Second version below, after Jo’s comments and my comments:
- Perhaps the start is a little long in terms of all the scene setting shots. Done.
- 1 min 15 – when the horse is brought out, this doesn’t demonstrate good practice, as the door isn’t opened properly and the then it is slammed. I think this bit might be better removed. Done.
- 3 minutes 38 – Section where I say “you got the same BCS as me…” I am not sure how it comes across …do you think ok? I think it is OK, there’s no need to cut it here. It would be an ungly cut in the sound anyway, as Radu is talking i the same time with you, focused on checking the other foot.
- 6 minutes 3 to 7 minutes 52 – where Nelutu is wrong – please remove. Done. But do you want it out? It shows a learning process, the guys are making mistakes and the trainers are correcting the. Isn’t it the purpose of the training?
- 9 minutes 37/8 to 9 minutes 55 – please remove reference to rubbing on horses back. Done.
- 16 minutes 36 to 16 minutes 38 – please remove: You need an “establishing shot” here, because you move from an inside scene to a different place. Further more, the old guy is asking in Romanian if he should hold the donkey’s foot, but he is told that the farrier will hold the foot.
- 19 minutes 32 to 19 minutes 49 – please remove, but can you check what they are saying in Romanian to makes sure this works. This part is only in Romanian and the guys are talking about Tom’s experience as a farrier, making the old man guess how many horses he shoe-ed is his entire career. He says “one or two thousands”, the right answer is around 75.000. I think this part is very convincing in demonstrating the trainer’s credentials. I think it should stay in.
- 20 minutes 32 to 20 minutes 40 – please remove. Done.
- 23 minutes 10 to 23 minutes 33 – please remove. Done.
Once this is done I will need to see a less-pixelated version to doubly check the welfare of the horses. Then I need to check with The Donkey Sanctuary, ABC (Eva has checked so I don’t see a problem here) and Radu Tatar, to get their permission and support for its use and whether there are any points of concern…with the edits above, I don’t foresee any problems. You can activate the HD option in the youtube player below, it should play a better version of the file, but you need a good internet connection.
Here is the initial video:
